Harnessing the power of Google Maps, home-bred business software maker Ramco Systems has come out with a human capital management (HCM) software, which is expected to revolutionise the way employee management happens.

The software virtually eliminates the practice of using swipe cards to mark employees’ attendance. It helps the employer to easily locate their staff and monitor them easily at a central location. The company is offering the software on the cloud (internet), which can also be accessible on smartphones (iPad, Android and Windows 8).

Take for example, the daily routine of an employee. Once he reaches the office, he uses the ‘R Scan’ application in his smart phone (which is part of the HCM software) to scan a quick response code (QR code or barcode) displayed on a monitor at the entrance. It is enough to record his attendance and location. Suppose he then decides to attend a meeting and enters the conference room. The moment he scans the QR code kept using his smartphone, his status in the system would show up accordingly.

If the employee is at a customer’s location in some other country, his location and the amount of tine he spends with the client would be reflected if someone clicks on the system to check his status.

Since his manager knows his location, he can immediately brief him about the other perspective customers he can visit in the same locality. More importantly, all the information pertaining to the employee or the business would be visible in the form of data instead of spreadsheets.
