Mathura-based Prabhat group of Industries has brought out a multimedia-based e-learning package for pre-nursery kids, which was launched in Agra on Friday.

Pre-nursery kids are fast rising as a separate block of consumers in India, demanding custom-designed products that have given rise to an entirely new industry of multimedia and animation, suited specially for kids. The firm seeks to tap this segment, pegged at Rs 1,000 crore annually.

Talking to Business Standard after the launch at the Hotel Holiday Inn, Rajesh Agarwal, director, Prabhat group of Industries, said this multimedia package consisted of pre-nursery books and a multimedia CD that was playable both on computer and VCD/DVD.

He said the company had already conducted trials of the software among kids in Delhi, and Jaipur in the past one month, and results had been extremely encouraging, encouraging the company to move ahead and launch the first edition of the multimedia package from Agra.

He said the package had been first displayed at the Delhi International Book Fair on November 14, and the creativity of the package had been appreciated by international publishers of kids' books.

He added this package would now be marketed all over the country by JB Publishing Pvt Ltd, a subsidiary of the Prabhat group, at Rs 500 per set of books and CD.

He said a batch of 5,000 sets had been produced initially with more batches in the pipeline, ready to be launched every month, according to the demand, countrywide.

He said the package had been designed in both English and Hindi, with facility to interactively learn reading and writing in both languages using melodious tunes to help kids learn faster while enjoying the learning experience.

He said for the production of the CD, the company had tied up with a Delhi-based multimedia company that designed the animation initially after which, it was placed for trial by kids all over the Hindi belt in the North India and the outcome of the research was this package, which was complete in itself.
