Reportedly, Reliance Industries is coming up with 4G VoLTE enabled handsets, priced close to Rs 1,000. While, the handsets will have many key features like video calling, front & back cameras, live TV and mobile wallet, among others, and will run on Android operating system, even though they would be feature phones.

While, handset prices have been falling steadily for quite some time now, no vendor in India has been able to come up with a 4G VoLTE handset, be it a smartphone or feature phone, at that price. Here are some of the low end feature phones that are currently available in the market:

# Nuvo One Echo: The cheapest mobile handset that is currently availablr in the market is a feature phone which doesnot come up with any accessories like earphone etc. It has a 1.8 inch QVGA display and 1.3 MP back camera. Price Rs 575.

# Snowtel S20: priced slughtly above the previous one the handset from Snowtel has 1.8 inch display and 0.3 MP primary camera. Price Rs 598.

# I KALL K99: Similar features, but packed with more internal space - 64 MB compared to 10MB in Snowtel S20. Price Rs 598.

#Supertel 108: Unlike the other models mentioned above, this handset has an option to insert external memory chip of 8GB. Price Rs 605.

# Jivi X48: The cheapest 3G enabled handset that has 10 MB RAM, 1.3 MP camera, 2.4 inch display screen, keypad and 1000mAh battery comes at a price of Rs 849.

# Karbonn T9: Apart from regular features this 3G handset provides touch & type option. It has a keypad and 2.4 inch touch screen. 256MB RAM, 500MB internal memory which can be expanded upto 16GB. It also has a secondary camera apart from a back camera, both 1.3MP. Price Rs 1,494.

# Intex Cloud Glory 4G: the only 4G handset that comes below Rs 2,000 at this moment. However, unlike Jio's new phone, this one is a touchscreen model priced at Rs 1,299.

There are hundreds of models available from other brands as well. AdCom, Usha Shriram, i-Smart and others are fighting it out in the lowest tier of the pyramid. However, none comes close to a VoLTE feature phone packed with all major features of an Android smartphone that Reliance is planning to launch.
