Recruiting and staffing company Silverline Technologies today said it has acquired Canada-based OMDR, which is a global provider of outsourced call centre services, for an undisclosed amount.

OMDR, formerly known as Omega Direct Responses, specialises in inbound, outbound and multi-lingual customer service.

"Global Customer Interaction is rapidly evolving into a mainstream activity within industries, providing not only for customer acquisition but also customer service and retention," said Silverline Technologies' Chairman Ravi Subramanian in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

The buy makes Silverline a contender in the service management space and the company will position itself to realise its goals of becoming a leading player of technology-enabled service management solutions, globally, he added.

Shares of the company closed at Rs 139.15, up 6.79 per cent at the BSE.

Accel Frontline
Chennai-based IT services firm Accel Frontline (AFL), announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the business of Network Programs India (NPI), in India and Japan, effective from January 01, 2008.

Cranes Software
Bangalore-based Cranes Software International (CSIL) today announced the acquisition of US-based Engineering Technology Associates, marking its foray into the lucrative Chinese auto market, and said it will invest about Rs 72 crore in this initiative.

The acquisition of the specialised auto consulting and product development firm was done through Cranes' subsidiary Cranes Software, the company said in a statement.

"This acquisition also gives Cranes access to the lucrative Asian markets and thereby expand the operations of the Chinese design centre by forming alliances with leading car manufacturers for end-to-end design and development specifications," CSIL MD Asif Khader said.

The company would pump in about Rs 72 crore to operationalise its market reach by exploring cross-sell and up-sell opportunities.

The company would take its existing product range to ETA's client base and help promote its CAE business across the globe, the statement added.
