TCS, Infosys, Wipro top software exporters' list

Tata Consultancy Services, Infosys Technologies and Wipro Technologies have emerged market leaders in information technology software and services exports in 2004-05 (April-March), an industry report said Thursday.
 
Tata Consultancy Services topped the list of software and IT service exporters, clocking revenues of Rs 7,449 crore, followed by Infosys at Rs 6,806 crore and Wipro at Rs 5,426 crore, the National Association of Software and Services Companies report said.
 
"Despite a larger base, the Indian software and services industry has been able to maintain its growth momentum and delivered better-than-expected results," Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said.
 
Indian IT companies' software exports were at $12 billion 2004-05, up from $9.2 billion in 2003-04, indicating a growth of 30.4 per cent, he said.
 
Meanwhile, another report said the Indian information technology companies' revenues from sale of servers during January-March grew 23.6 per cent on year.
 
Indian firms' market share in server revenue grew to 8.5 per cent during the period from 7.5 a year ago, the report said.
 
In the Asia-Pacific region, India's growth rate in the segment was second to China's 26.8 per cent.
 
China's market share in global server revenues during January-March rose to 40 per cent from 34.3 per cent a year ago, the global information technology research and analysis firm, Gartner said in the report.
 
China, South Korea and Australia were the top three markets in the Asia-Pacific region, accounting for more than 60 per cent of the total server revenue, the report said. IBM, Hewlett-Packard and Sun Microsystems continued to be the market leaders in servers followed by Dell.
 
While IBM remained the market leader, its market share fell to 35.2 per cent from 36.7 per cent a year ago. Hewlett-Packard's market share increased to 33 per cent from 31.6 per cent. Sun Microsystems market share fell to 9.4 per cent from 13.6 per cent, the report said.
