Wind River Systems, the Nasdaq-listed software maker for semiconductor devices, says in a statement, it has agreed to a "strategic alliance" with Wipro Technologies, the flagship IT services business of Bangalore headquartered Wipro Limited.

The partnership "will more closely align Wind River's leading Device Software Optimisation (DSO) products and device design services with Wipro's product engineering services portfolio."

It furthers a long-standing bilateral customer relationship between the two companies which began in 1998, the statement says, on WindRiver's website.

Joint customers of the two firms will now have access to a larger team of development engineers trained on the latest Wind River DSO product lines.

This will help clients develop and run device software more efficiently at lower costs with greater reliability, the release says.

Wind River will provide extensive training on its product line to Wipro's engineering team including Wind River Workbench and the Wind River Platforms.

Wipro can also "influence Wind River's product roadmap" and will create new business opportunities for both companies via cross-referrals, the release says.
