Suzlon has bagged contracts from Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) and National Aluminium Company Limited (Nalco) for setting up two wind power projects of 55.40 MW each.

The HPCL wind power project comprises of 24 units of S97-120m hybrid towers with rated capacity of 2.1MW each and is scheduled for completion by FY2017. This is a third order awarded by HPCL to Suzlon. The S97 -120 m hybrid tower is the world’s tallest AllSteel hybrid tower (120 meter height) design which combines both lattice and tubular structures, designed indigenously to harness the potential from sub-optimal wind sites.

Suzlon partnered HPCL’s maiden foray in the non-conventional energy space in 2007 and with this order, HPCL’s total wind portfolio will increase to 100.90MW entirely powered by Suzlon.

For Nalco’s project, Suzlon will be responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from development to construction and commissioning including operations, maintenance and services of the project for an initial period of 10 years.

The Nalco wind power project, which is scheduled for completion in FY2017, is capable of providing power to approximately 27,000 households and reducing about 0.10 million tonnes of CO2 emissions per annum. Nalco’s cumulative Suzlon powered wind portfolio will increase to 100.80MW post completion of this project. The project.

Nalco forayed into the renewable energy space in 2011 by entering into a partnership with Suzlon for setting up its maiden 50.40 MW wind power project in the state of Andhra Pradesh.
