Skipper Ltd, the Kolkata-based manufacturer of engineering and PVC products, has commenced production of PVC products at its new unit in Sikandrabad (Uttar Pradesh). With the commissioning of the Sikandrabad plant, which has a capacity of about 8,000 metric tonne, the company’s combined installed capacity for PVC products will go up to 35000 MT. This is Skipper’s fourth manufacturing unit for PVC products after Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Guwahati (Assam).

In April last year, Skipper Ltd, a flagship company of the SK Bansal Group, commissioned manufacturing facility at Ahmedabad (Gujarat) having capacity of 10,000 tonnes a year.

With the government focusing on water supply, irrigation, river management, along with improving sanitation, sewerage and urbanisation, Skipper expects the demand for PVC pipes and fittings to increase and has firmed up plans to be a pan-India player.

To meet the growing demand for PVC products, the company will raise the capacity to 40,000 tonnes by the end of 2016 and then take the total capacity to 100,000 TPA by FY 2018.

Besides expansion, Skipper has also expanded product portfolio by launching CPVC pipes for both agricultural as well as urban plumbing segments. For this, the company has entered into the technological tie up with Sekisui, a Japanese firm which is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of CPVC compound, for manufacturing premium quality CPVC pipes.

Established in 1981, Skipper is one of the leading manufacturers and suppliers of towers (telecom and transmission), PVC, GI, and SWR pipes & fittings in India.
