Earlier in the evening, after winning the toss and deciding to bat first, Delhi got off to the worst possible start as Mohammed Shami was firing all cylinders with the ball. The Titans speedster got 4/11 in his spell as the Capitals reeled at 23/5 in the first five overs. 

 

Axar Patel and Aman Khan then stood against the force and added 50 for the sixth wicket. Axar was trapped by Mohit Sharma as his 99th scalp. Ripal Patel replaced him and added 53 off just 27 balls with Aman to provide some respectability to the Delhi total. While Aman scored 51 (44), Ripal made a quickfire 23 (13). Gujarat came back in the last two overs to concede only 11 runs and restrict the Delhi side to 130/8.

With the score reading 119/6, 13 balls to go and Aman Khan, fresh from hitting his maiden fifty in IPL at the crease, Delhi fans and players would have hoped that their score would surely go beyond 140. However, in the next 13 balls, only 11 runs came and the Capitals lost two wickets as well. Rashid Khan and Moht Sharma bowled the 19th and 20th over respectively for the TRitans. 

 

Given that the Capitals were 23/5 at the end of the first five overs, even 130 looks like a saving grace.
