As the cases of obscene behaviour are now going up in Delhi Metro, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has now announced to take strict action in order to curb such behaviour.

The decision to take strict action comes following an uproar over some of the viral videos shot inside the train. On May 10, another one of the viral videos showed a couple kissing inside the metro, following which netizens reacted.

According to media reports, the DMRC has decided to now deploy more flying squads, which will consist of police and Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) staff to patrol metro coaches.

On April 29, a video of a man masturbating inside the Delhi Metro went viral, following which a notice was issued by the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW), and a case was also registered by Delhi Police. Calling the video “absolutely disgusting and sickening”, Swati Maliwal, DCW chief, called for strict action into the matter. “More and more such cases are coming to light in the Delhi Metro and exemplary action needs to be taken against such persons so that women’s safety is ensured in the Metro,” she tweeted.

According to reports, DMRC has currently a total of five flying squads. These squads will now be increased and each squad will consist of three to four personnel. The flying squads will work to ensure that commuters can travel safely.

Along with these steps, DMRC has also issued a helpline number, 155370, which can be used at any point in time to report any objectionable behaviour.  It will now also use CCTV cameras to ensure the safety of passengers inside the metro coaches to keep a check on any objectionable activity.
