Stock Market LIVE Updates: Markets began the week on a positive note, gaining nearly half a percent, extending Friday’s rally. Following an initial gap-up start, the Nifty traded within a narrow range throughout the session and eventually settled at the 25,103.20 level. Most sectors moved in line with the benchmark and closed higher, with energy, IT, and financials among the top gainers. The broader indices continued to outperform, posting gains in the range of 1.1 per cent to 1.5 per cent.

 

The up move in the index was largely in line with expectations; however, mixed performance from heavyweights—particularly in the private banking space—limited the momentum. We maintain our bullish outlook and recommend a focus on selective stock picking during any intermediate consolidation or dip. At the same time, participants should exercise caution, especially in the small- and mid-cap segments, which are currently buoyed by strong domestic flows and sentiment. Emphasis should remain on themes and stocks where the risk-to-reward ratio continues to be favourable.

In the past two trading days, select stocks from these sectors have rallied by up to 18 per cent after the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) appointed monetary policy committee on Friday decided to cut the repo rate by 50 bps to 5.5 per cent vs. general expectations of 25 bps. 

 

Further, in a surprising move, the RBI also decided to cut the cash reserve ratio (CRR) by a massive 100 bps to 3.0 per cent of NDTL (Net demand and Time liabilities) in a staggered manner with equal cut of 25 bps being effective from fortnight beginning 6th September, 4th October, 1st November and 29th November. Stock Market LIVE Updates: L&T shares rise after bagging ₹1,000-₹2,500 crore order from JSW Energy

Stock Market LIVE Updates: Shares of Indian construction major Larsen & Toubro rose 1.5 per cent after the company secured an order worth ₹1,000 - ₹2,500 crore from JSW Energy. 

 

L&T's stock rose as much as 1.44 per cent during the day to ₹3,708.9 per share, the biggest intraday gain since May 26  this year. The stock pared gains to trade 0.7 per cent higher at ₹3,682 apiece, compared to a 0.42 per cent advance in Nifty 50 as of 12:00 PM. 

 

The company's Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) business vertical has secured an order from JSW Energy to execute the Bhavali Pumped Storage Project (PSP) in Maharashtra. The order, classified as “significant” by L&T, is valued between ₹1,000 crore and ₹2,500 crore.
