Asian Champions Trophy 2024 points table: India, Japan, Pakistan rankings

The defending champions India are enjoying a fairytale run in 2024 Asian Champions Trophy. The men in blue after their emphatic 8-1 win over the Malaysian side on Wednesday became the first team to qualify for the semifinals.

India, who are at the top of the points table with nine points from three games started their campaign with 3-0 win over the hosts China, before beating Japan 5-1 and Malaysia 8-1. India’s win on Wednesday has made sure that Carig Fullton’s man will remain at the top of table at least until after match day 4.

Korea after playing two draws finally secured thier first win of the competition after beating China 3-2 in thier third match. Korea who played two draws against Japan and pakistan in thier first two games are now at number two spot at the points table with five points in three games.

Meanwhile, Pakistan jumped up a spots from fourth to third after their hard fought 2-1 win over Japan. Pakistan now has five points from three games and are one of the favourites to secure the second semifinal berth. While China after losing to Korea on Wedesday dropped down to fourth position with three points in three games.

Japan and Malaysia with one draw and two losses are the fifth and sixth spot teams at the points table, respectively. Despite having the same amount of points, Japan is better placed than Malaysia due to their superior goal difference.

How the semifinalists of the Asian Hockey Champions Trophy will be determined?

The top four teams at the end of the group stage will qualify for the semi-finals, while the bottom two teams will face each other in a fifth-place playoff.

The teams will now thier match day four games on Thursday, September 12.
