The Indian Biogas Association (IBA) has suggested to the Delhi government that it pursue up to 20 per cent blending of compressed biogas into compressed natural gas, as it can bring gaseous (vehicular) mobility close to carbon neutrality. In a statement, the IBA pointed out that although EV adoption is increasing, EV penetration in the overall vehicle fleet remains limited. Thus, it makes CNG the best choice as a clean fuel because of its negligible particulate emission and significantly lower levels of NOx compared to diesel, it added. The IBA has submitted its recommendations on the Draft Delhi Electric Vehicle Policy to the Delhi government, urging policymakers to adopt an integrated clean mobility approach that combines electric vehicles (EVs), CNG, and CBG to deliver immediate and scalable emissions reductions. The IBA pointed out that the existing infrastructure for the supply of CNG, including pipelines, dispensing stations, and millions of vehicles that run on this fuel, ...
Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL) has not raised prices of CNG and piped cooking gas supplied to households, even as it has imposed supply curbs on some large industrial consumers amid the escalating West Asia crisis affecting gas supplies, officials said on Friday. A company official said about 70 per cent of ATGL's gas volumes are sourced domestically and supplied to CNG users and domestic kitchens (called piped natural gas (PNG)-domestic) customers. Prices for these segments of vehicle owners and residential households remain unchanged. ATGL, the city gas joint venture of the Adani Group and French energy major TotalEnergies, sources the remaining around 30 per cent of gas volumes through imported LNG. This is supplied to commercial and industrial users. As the escalating war halted movement of ships through Strait of Hormuz - the narrow sealane through which India gets a bulk of its crude oil and LNG supplies - the imported fuel segment has seen disruption. Due to supply chain ...
Torrent Gas on Friday announced a reduction of up to Rs 3.50 per kg in the retail price of CNG and up to Rs 2 per standard cubic metre in domestic PNG in its areas of operation connected to the National Gas Grid across the country. "This will make CNG cheaper by up to 43 per cent vis-a-vis petrol," the company said in a statement. This reduction in prices of CNG and PNG comes on the back of the implementation of the Unified Tariff order by PNGRB, effective from January 1, 2026. "This reduction in CNG and PNG prices will bring great relief to households using it as cooking fuel and to CNG vehicle owners by reducing household expenses for the common man. This bold step, along with the nationwide PNGRB Campaign for promoting the usage of Natural Gas, is also expected to give an impetus to the offtake of new PNG connections amongst households and encourage the sale of new CNG vehicles, including passenger and commercial segments," it said. Torrent Gas has always been at the forefront o
Adani Total Gas Ltd (ATGL), the city gas joint venture of Adani Group and French giant TotalEnergies, has cut prices of CNG and natural gas piped to household kitchens for cooking across multiple markets, delivering direct relief to them and motorists. CNG and domestic piped natural gas prices have been cut by up to Rs 4, the company said. The reduction follows the landmark tariff reform by the Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB), which has streamlined gas transportation charges and lowered input costs for city gas distributors. ATGL said the price reduction varies by geography, depending on transportation zones. In Gujarat and adjoining Madhya Pradesh-Maharashtra areas, CNG is now cheaper by Rs 0.50 to Rs 1.90 per kg while domestic PNG is down by up to Rs 1.10 per standard cubic metre. In Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana-NCR, northern Madhya Pradesh and bordering Uttar Pradesh, CNG price has been reduced by Rs 1.40 to Rs 2.55 per kg while domestic PNG is cheaper by Rs 1.1
