Leading luxury hospitality players such as ITC Hotels and Radisson Hotel Group are reporting robust demand for domestic leisure travel this summer as affluent Indians increasingly choose destinations closer to home amid geopolitical tensions in West Asia. While outbound travel continues to remain an important aspiration for wealthy Indian travellers, factors like convenience, predictability and the expanding range of premium domestic experiences are encouraging more travellers to spend their summer holidays within India, top hospitality executives told PTI. Adani Airport Holdings on Thursday announced signing a deal with hospitality firm IHG Hotels & Resorts for developing five hotels across key airport-linked and high-growth urban destinations, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Ahmedabad. The agreement will add close to 1,500 keys across multiple brands and locations, in line with IHG's growth plans for India, Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) said. AAHL said it is also in advanced discussions with IHG to further deepen and expand this partnership. The pact also marks IHG's luxury lifestyle boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' debut in the domestic market. The development aligns with rising travel demand and the rapid expansion of India's aviation, tourism and airport-led urban infrastructure sectors, AAHL said. Representatives from the hospitality sector, including members of hotel associations met Tourism Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat during the last two days amid reports of skyrocketing hotel room tariffs ahead of the upcoming India AI Impact Summit, scheduled at Bharat Mandapam here from February 16-20. Confirming the development, Hotel Association of India (HAI) said in light of recent articles reporting on hotel pricing in Delhi during the AI Impact Summit, a meeting was held by the Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Shekhawat. Industry sources said almost all standard rooms, which account for about 70 per cent of the inventory in top hotels in the national capital have been sold out. With demand surging, not just because of the AI summit but also due to wedding season and the ongoing T20 cricket world cup, room tariffs are already priced high. Hospitality chain Pride Hotels is targeting to launch initial public offering (IPO) by March 2026 to fund renovations of existing properties and pare debt, its Chairman & Managing Director Sureshchand Premchand Jain said. The Pune-based company, which filed its preliminary papers with markets regulator Sebi in October, is awaiting regulatory approval to float the IPO. The proposed IPO comprises a fresh issue of equity shares worth Rs 260 crore and an offer for sale (OFS) of 3.92 crore equity shares by existing shareholders. Of the fresh issue proceeds, Rs 159.68 crore will be used to modernise and renovate existing hotels, Rs 40 crore for debt repayment, and the balance for general corporate purposes. Total borrowings stood at Rs 65 crore as of March 2025, the draft papers showed. Elaborating on the utilisation plan, Jain told PTI that the company intends to deploy the funds over the next 12 to 27 months to undertake renovation, refurbishment and upgradation of six out of seven .
