With demand for AI skills continuing to grow across India, a report on Wednesday showed that AI-related job postings increased to 11.7 per cent this September from 8.2 per cent in the same month a year ago. In September, 11.7 per cent of Indian job postings explicitly mentioned AI in their job descriptions, up from 10.6 per cent three months earlier and 8.2 per cent a year ago, global hiring platform Indeed said in a report. "India ranks highly against other Indeed markets. Apart from India, only Singapore has a higher share of postings mentioning artificial intelligence. It's clear that many employers across India have gone all-in on artificial intelligence," Indeed's APAC Senior Economist Callam Pickering said. Bengaluru is among the top 12 global technology hubs with a tech workforce in the IT city crossing the 1 million mark, according to CBRE. Real estate consultant CBRE has released a report, 'Global Tech Talent Guidebook 2025', which highlights global tech talent dynamics across 115 markets. The report evaluates these markets based on the availability, quality, and cost of tech talent and classifies them into three categories: Powerhouse (12 markets with large, deep, and highly competitive talent pools), Established (63 mature markets with consistent talent pipelines), and Emerging (40 growth-focused markets with improving capabilities). CBRE noted that the report identifies "Bengaluru as among the top 12 global tech powerhouses." Hiring in the IT sector grew 16 per cent year-on-year in April, driven by factors such as AI adoption, cloud modernisation, and the continued expansion of Global Capability Centers (GCCs), a report said on Friday. India's IT hiring grew last month, marking a sharp rebound from fluctuations over previous years, the report 'the foundit Insights Tracker (fit)' by jobs platform foundit said. GCCs played a significant role in this hiring growth, contributing over 1,10,000 new tech jobs in FY25, and ramping up demand for roles like data engineering, DevOps, and enterprise architecture, it added. US IT firm Cognizant, which has a huge employee base in India, has announced plans to hire 20,000 freshers in 2025 -- a move intended to reshape the company's talent pyramid, particularly to support managed services and AI-led software development. While the company's overall headcount remained nearly flat compared to previous quarter at 3,36,300, Cognizant's leadership highlighted the strategic importance of talent amplification as the firm accelerates its growth and innovation agenda. "As we stated at our Investor Day, we are hiring 20,000 freshers as part of our strategy, which is more than double what we did last year," Cognizant CEO Ravi Kumar S said. India's ITeS (Information Technology and Enabled Services) sector is poised for significant expansion in 2025, with job opportunities projected to surge by 20 per cent, according to a report. The "Instahyre Tech Salary Index 2025" indicated shifting salary dynamics across different experience levels and domains. Instahyre, an AI-based hiring platform, drew insights from over 42,000 anonymised candidate profiles and more than 11,000 recruiter-candidate interactions. "Roles in AI, cybersecurity, and cloud computing are expected to witness a remarkable 75 per cent surge, driven by the rising adoption of emerging technologies. Close on the heels of an outcry over recent layoffs of more than 300 freshers in its Mysuru campus, Infosys has now postponed, by a week, internal assessments scheduled for trainees. The company has, however, asserted that the deferment is aimed at giving them additional time for preparation. IT employee union Nascent Information Technology Employees Senate (NITES), meanwhile, claimed that the assessment meant for 800 trainees was postponed due to its intervention, "unwavering fight against unfair layoffs", as well as government action. Countering this, Infosys, in a statement, said it had not received any requests from the government or external parties to postpone assessments. "We are deferring our assessments by a week to provide additional preparation time for our trainees," Infosys said.
