The government's cyber security and safety app Sanchar Saathi recorded a 10-fold jump in downloads on Tuesday, rising from a daily average of around 60,000 to nearly 6 lakh, DoT sources said on Wednesday. The number of downloads jumped even as Opposition leaders and a section of industry experts criticised the Department of Telecom order to mandatorily pre-install the app on all mobile phones alleging that it is meant for "snooping" and violating privacy of citizens. "There has been very good response to the Sanchar Saathi App from the public suddenly. The download on a single day jumped 10 times to around 6 lakh from an average of 60,000 a day," a DoT source, who did not wished to be named, told PTI. According to official data, 1.5 crore people have already downloaded the app even before the order was issued. Esports company Nazara Technologies on Friday said it will invest Rs 982 crore in Moonshine Technology, which owns real money gaming platform PokerBaazi. As part of the deal, Nazara will buy a 47.7 per cent stake in Moonshine Technology for Rs 831.51 crore comprising Rs 592.26 crore cash transaction and a share swap worth Rs 239.25 crore. With the share swap arrangement, select investors and management personnel including Baazi Games, CEO and Founder, Navkiran Singh, will hold 3.17 per cent stake in Nazara Technologies. Besides this, Nazara will invest Rs 150 crore to subscribe to a 100 per cent compulsory convertible which can be converted into equity at a future date as per the agreement clause. Capital markets regulator Sebi on Monday launched a mobile app 'Saa?thi 2.0' on personal finance for investors with comprehensive tools aimed at simplifying complex financial concepts. "The updated 'Saa?thi' app introduces a user-friendly interface with comprehensive tools aimed at simplifying complex financial concepts," Sebi said in a statement. The app includes financial calculators and has modules that introduce and explain KYC procedures, mutual funds, ETFs, buying and selling shares on stock exchanges, investor grievances redressal mechanism, and the Online Dispute Resolution (ODR) platform. Additionally, the app features a range of videos designed to assist investors in their personal finance planning. The government has launched the 'myCGHS' app for iOS to provide Central Government Health Scheme beneficiaries access to electronic health records, information, and resources. The app facilitates a wide range of services, including booking and cancellation of online appointments, accessing reports from CGHS labs, checking medical reimbursement claim status, and locating nearby wellness centres and empanelled hospitals, labs, and dental units among others.
