The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) on Monday announced the expansion of its WhatsApp Se Wyapaar' programme for digitally upskilling 1 crore local traders on the WhatsApp Business App. Scaling the training programme from 10 lakh traders in 17 states to 1 crore traders across all Indian states, the training is available in 11 Indian languages - English, Hindi, Bangla, Punjabi, Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Urdu, Gujarati, Kannada and Malayalam, according to a joint statement by Meta and CAIT. Meta on Monday announced it has partnered with the Confederation of All India Traders to upskill 10 lakh traders on how to use the WhatsApp Business App over the next three years in a bid to reach more customers and scale up their businesses. The owner of WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook also announced the launch of Meta Small Business Academy, a new programme to enable emerging entrepreneurs to learn digital marketing skills and earn a certification. Around 76 per cent of respondents have claimed that they have noticed a rise in pesky calls or SMS based on their conversations with WhatsApp business accounts and their activity on Facebook or Instagram, online survey firm LocalCircles said on Wednesday. According to the survey conducted between February 1-20, 95 per cent of WhatsApp users surveyed by LocalCircles in India indicate that they get one or more pesky messages each day out of which 41 per cent claim to get four or more such messages daily.
