Noted Hindi writer Yadvendra Sharma passes away

Noted Hindi writer Yadvendra Sharma "Chandra" today passed away in Bikaner after a prolonged illness.

Chandra, 77, was suffering from septicaemia, family sources said. He is survived by his wife and three sons.

He had authored over 100 books, including 60 novels, 30 short stories, poems, and short plays.

His literary works fetched him Rajasthan Sahitya Academy's top literary "Meera award", Kendriya Sahitya Academy award, Rajasthani Bhasha Sahitya Academy award, Rajasthan Patrika's literary award, Sahitya Mahopadhya, Vidhya Vachaspati, Sahitya Shree, Rahul Sankratyan, and Jhabarmal Sharma awards.

Some telefilms by Doordarshan were based on his novels like "Hajar Ghorono Ka Sawar", "Janani Dyodhi", and "Gunahon Ki Devi".
