After having failed to convene board meetings twice due to non-quorum, the Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), which owns and markets the Amul brand of milk and milk products, has finally called a meeting on June 30 to discuss the issues pertaining to the resignation of B M Vyas as the managing director of the Rs 8,000-crore body.

The decision to hold a special board meeting of the 13-member board was taken after Ramsinh Parmar, chairman, Kheda District Co-operative Milk Producers Union Ltd , popularly known as Amul Dairy, met the officiating MD R S Sodhi.

He handed over a letter signed by nine members of the board to Sodhi and requested him to convene a special meeting. By its rules, if a majority of the members demand a meeting, it has to be convened.
