Bharti Airtel, on Friday, said it has appointed Titus Naikuni as the chairman of the board of directors of Airtel Kenya.
Naikuni comes with vast board-room experience with many companies across sectors. Starting his career with Magadi Soda Company (now Tata Chemicals Magadi Limited) in 1979, he rose to become the managing director of the company in 1995.
Between August 1999 and March 2001 Naikuni was a member of a team of World Bank sponsored Kenyan technocrats, working for the turn around the Kenyan economy. Naikuni served as permanent secretary to the Ministry of Information, Transport and Communications and was a member of the Board of Kenya Airways during that period. He also worked with Kenya Airways.
Naikuni, a bachelor of science (honours) in mechanical engineering from the University of Nairob, is a graduate of the Harvard Business School's Management Development Programme and was awarded a Doctor of Science Engineering by the Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology.
