Big Synergy, Phantom Films enter tie-up

Big Synergy, promoted by Siddhartha Basu, and Anurag Kashyap's Phantom Films have come together to form a content production house, to deliver entertainment content across TV (television) and digital media.
Big Synergy will now have access to the creative talent resource of Phantom Films to expand their offering into the fiction segment on both media while Phantom Films will build on Big Synergy's well in factual entertainment and reality formats to expand its business.
Phantom Films will also now have access to Big Synergy's expertise and reach in production of regional language content across seven languages in the fiction & non-fiction space.

BIG Synergy, promoted by the husband-wife team of Siddhartha Basu and Anita Kaul Basu, is one of the country's first independent television production houses, started way back in 1988. Phantom Films is positioned as India's first director led creative production house and was established in 2011. It was started by Anurag Kashyap, Vikas Bahl ,Vikramaditya Motwane and Madhu Mantena and is the creative force behind films like Queen, Bombay Velvet, NH10, Lootera and Udta Punjab.
Basu said the alliance facilitates the goals and aspirations of both the organizations. "This is a potent alliance of strong core capabilities which will immediately enable terrific synergies, to innovate and expand the kind of impactful content we can offer to the public," he said.
Anita Kaul Basu added, "Digital & out-of-the-box content is the future, and I am sure the association with Phantom will add to the advantage of Synergy, as a company we have painstakingly nurtured over many years, and continue its reputation for excellence, quality and consistency, with a fine range of new content."
Bhal, who directed 2014's runaway hit Queen, said "This is the most exciting and challenging times for content creators. With the experience and focus of synergy we hope we can together create path breaking content for the new age audience. "
His partner Motwane added, "We're very excited to partner up with modern legends of Indian television and web content, and we couldn't be more excited about this new chapter in our creative collaboration."
Phantom is no stranger to creative alliances. It has a film production tie-up with Anil Amabani's Reliance Entertainment, the film production and distribution arm of Reliance ADAG, and also has a JV with Blumhouse Productions and Ivanhoe Pictures (the makers of the Paranormal Activity franchise) under which it plans to release multiple horror films for the Indian market.
