The Indian Institutes of Management (IIM), along with Prometric, provider of market-leading test development and test delivery solutions, today announced the successful conclusion of the Common Admission Test 2012.

A total of 2,14,068 candidates registered for this year’s test which was conducted in 61 test centres across 36 cities over a 21-day testing window from October 11 to November 6. Despite slowdown in the economy, sale of vouchers and registration for Common Admissions Test (CAT) 2012 have gone up marginally by four% this year. In 2011, the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs), owner of CAT exams, saw around 205,000 registrations.

While there were no significant changes to the test this year, there has been a positive shift in the candidate pool in terms of gender and social balance, as well as work experience, said a statement by IIM Kozhikode. All candidates who showed up with proper documentation and on time, have successfully completed their tests, the release added.

"With CAT 2012 testing coming to a conclusion, we are looking forward to the calibre of candidates that will come through our doors, and turning them into future leaders,” said Debashis Chatterjee, director, IIM Kozhikode.

This is the fourth year of the computer-based CAT.

Soumitra Roy, managing director, Prometric India said, "The operational protocols we put in place ensured that contingency plans were executed expeditiously and with minimal disruption to candidates."

The CAT 2012 results are expected to be announced on January 9,  2013 and candidates will be able to log in to view their results on the CAT website www.catiim.in
