Chat-based concierge Goodservice raises $1.6 mn from Sequoia Capital

Targets to disrupt the highly fragmented local services and local commerce market

Goodservice, a chat based concierge app that lets you get anything on demand, has raised $1.6 Million seed funding from The start-up plans to use the funds to invest in technology and to expand its scale of operations.

offers customers a single destination to get anything done, like a ‘personal secretary available 24/7’, on chat. Using the app, users can chat with a agent who understands the user’s requirement and helps them get exactly what they need, at the best price.

Goodservice app is a one-stop solution for anything and everything one needs, from electricians and plumbers to dance and art classes, from caterers and photographers to errands like printing and courier services.

Goodservice makes booking movie tickets, getting doctor’s appointments, finding products and accessories from local stores or getting food delivered from any restaurant – painless, with its simple chat message based app. Goodservice offers 24 hour service with a promise of never saying ‘NO’ to any legal request.

Founded in 2014 by Vipul Aggarwal and Ruchir Jain, Stanford and IIM-A graduates respectively, the company’s ambition is to make city life easier for people. Goodservice, through its website and the recently launched app claims it already caters to requests worth more than Rs 30 lakhs a day. It wants to disrupt the huge local services and local commerce market, which is highly fragmented today.

“Our goal is to give people the luxury and convenience of a service that gets anything done. We’ve found immense customer love for two simple reasons; First, our promise to get anything done for the user, and second, attention paid to the full experience,'' Vipul Aggarwal, Co-Founder, Goodservice said. "All that a customer has to do is type a request -‘send me a carpenter’ and we get them the cheapest quote, make the booking, do follow-ups and ensure the job is done well. Backing from Sequoia will be important in helping us expand operations with a target of Rs. 1 Crore per day worth of requests for services and products."

Goodservice app is available on Android at present. An iOS version will be launched in the next couple of weeks. The Goodservice app is currently available to customers in Delhi and NCR and is launching soon in other metros. The company plans to extend their offering to the rest of the country in phases.
