Drug retailers to observe day-long strike tomorrow

However, medical shops at hospitals and nursing homes will remain open during the bandh so that emergency services are not hit

Press Trust of India New Delhi
An association of chemist and drug retailers today threatened to go on a day-long strike and shut down medical shops tomorrow against the "unjustified" policies of the government.

"We have decided to observe a day-long token strike against the unjustified policies of the government. However, medical shops at hospitals and nursing homes will remain open during the bandh so that emergency services are not hit and inconvenience is not caused to the general public," said Sandeep Nangia, president of The Retailers and Distributors Chemist Association (RDCA).

The association has several demands, which include maintenance of trade margins of medicines and not to reduce it in the forth-coming Drugs (Price Control) Order 2013 considering the rising operational costs.
