Bilkar will be GPRS and cloud enabled

BS Reporter Hyderabad
ECRs Tech, a recently-floated retail automation startup backed by SP Chandu, founder of Hyderabad-based Southern Retail Automation Services, is planning to launch Bilkar, an electronic cash register with GPRS and server-cloud technology.

"The product will be formally launched in the Indian market within a month, specifically targeting segments like retail, restaurants, textiles and wholesalers etc," Chandu told mediapersons.

Stating that ECRs Tech was taking the first-mover advantage in this space, he said the GPRS, server-cloud technology electronic cash register market in India was put at 22,000 units per year (or Rs 260 crore in value).

"Currently, we have a small manufacturing unit in Hyderabad with a capacity to manufacture 5,000 units a year. As the demand grows, we plan to scale up the capacity to 10,000 units per year," he said, adding  they were targeting to sell 3,000 units in the first year of launch.
