The Enforcement Directorate (ED) and Income Tax (IT) Department have conducted searches in various offices allegedly connected to Karti Chidambaram, son of former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram, media reports said Tuesday.

While Karti Chidambaram did not immediately respond to a text message, officials in ED and IT departments in Chennai resfuse to either confirm or deny the search.

His father, former Finance Minister Chidambaram, however, tweeted "If govt wants to target me, it should do so directly. My family and I are quite prepared to face the "malicious onslaught" launched by government."

Reports said the action comes after the ED issued summons to two directors of Advantage Strategic Consulting in connection with the ongoing investigation of Aircel-Maxis deal, and in which the company was allegedly involved through some transactions. The consulting firm is allegedly linked with Karti Chidambaram, said earlier reports.

Subramanian Swamy, senior BJP leader tweeted Tuesday morning that "ED raids started from morning 8 am at various locations at BC linked firms in Chennai as Advantage Str in connection with Aircel-Maxis scam".
