Speaking to reporters in the sidelines Segue Sessions, a sill building and career come-back event for women professionals organised by Avtar Career Creators and sponsored by companies including Ford, David Dubensky, president and managing director, Ford Motor Pvt Ltd, formerly known as Ford Business Service Centre Pvt Ltd said, "Right now product development is one big area that we support. We are just in the process of hiring in that area now to support commodity designs globally."
"It means, a particular commodity that is used on every product around the world or on many products around the world and you design that one time. That is something that we are looking to do here to enhance the skill set of the people," he said. The company is evaluating expanding the scope of its work in different areas. It routinely work with the global functions to
try to determine strategically what it sould be doing out of this Global Business Service centre.
At present, the company mostly work in a digital innovation space and it is starting its journey to enhance the skill set of the team, he said. He refused to divulge more on the plans saying that the company is in the process of firming up those plans.
"May be in a couple of months we will have a little bit more firmed up the numbers in terms of where we are going in that space," said Dubensky when asked about what would be the hiring for this segment. He added, "We are giving the team here some work on commodities to start and enhancing the skill set. We want to upskill the employees in that area and we will be starting giving them a little bit of work."
Ford has three verticals in India, the automotive business, the Global Business Service and the credit business. The company has close to 15,000 employees across India and this number goes up by around 1,000-1,500 people every year.
