International hospitality chain Hyatt Hotel Corporation would open its 5-star property Hyatt Regency in Ludhiana very soon, said Hyatt Regency-Ludhiana General Manager Glenn Peat. This would be the first hotel in Ludhiana in the international five-star deluxe category, Peat added.

Further, this will be the group’s second full-service hotel in Punjab, besides the Hyatt in Amritsar. The opening of its second hotel indicates the group is betting big on Punjab. Also on the pipeline is Hyatt Regency in Chandigarh.

Speaking to Business Standard, Peat said, “We hope to commence our operations commercially very soon. This will be the second full service Hyatt hotel under development in the state of Punjab, joining Hyatt Amritsar.” The property offers 168 contemporarily-styled and spacious guestrooms, including 26 suites ranging from 409-1,981 sq ft.

2 dedicated Regency Club floors cater to the needs of discerning travelers with its business facilities and a Regency Club Lounge. All the accommodation offers wired and wireless broadband Internet access, work station with dual-line telephone and media hub connectivity, 40”television with international satellite channels, MP3 docking station, mini bar etc.

According to Glenn the hotel will set new benchmark in hospitality in this city as its residents and visitors will experience the first class offerings of internationally well known brand. On being asked about the potential in Ludhiana, Glenn said, “ There is huge potential in Ludhiana which need to be tapped. Lot of global brands source their product from Ludhiana, so they keep on visiting the city, it is where the potential lies. In absence of hotel in International Five Star Deluxe Category in the city, normally business travellers prefers to stay in Chandigarh. We are banking on that category and will try to capture the high-end business and leisure travel segments. Since Ludhiana is commercial capital and also lies in centre of the state, we are planning to promote it as tourist destination by joining hands with Punjab government.”

He also added, “ The recent Reserve Bank of India report, which puts Punjab among the top three investment destinations in India during 2012-13, would act as catalyst to attract new investments, thus bringing in business travellers.”

On being asked about the expansion plans in India, he added, “We currently have 17 operational hotels in India. Our planned openings by the middle of next year will make this 20 hotels. We will open Hyatt Regency in Ludhiana very soon. Other scheduled openings in this period are Hyatt Raipur and Hyatt Place Pune.” The Group is targeting not only the metros but also high growth tier II and III cities in India. In India it has properties operating under four brands, Park Hyatt, Grand Hyatt, Hyatt Regency, and Hyatt Place.

The property in Ludhiana would also offer Fitness Center & Swimming Pool, Hair & Beauty Salon, Restaurant & Bar. It also offers more than 6600 sq ft of meeting space including a 5400 sq ft ballroom which is ideal for meetings, conferences and private parties. This flexible meeting space is divisible into three sections for smaller events. Additionally the hotel offers 4 boardrooms apt for smaller meetings and discussions. All event venues are well appointed with state-of-the-art technology infrastructure offering broadband and WiFi connectivity. The property would also offer outside catering for 10 to 1500 people.
