CRETA sees over 10,000 bookings before July 21 launch

CRETA is expected to compete with Renault's Duster and Nissan's Terrano

With nearly a week to go for the launch, Hyundai's upcoming sports utility vehicle, CRETA, has already got about 10,000 confirmed bookings, said a company statement.

The SUV is due for a launch on July 21.

Hyundai's closest competitor and market leader Maruti Suzuki is also launching the S Cross early next month. The vehicle, a crossover will be positioned as a SUV. Numbers of booking done for the S Cross was not immediately available. Prices of both the cars are not yet known.

“We had received 10,000 advance bookings besides over 25,000 people enquiries about the model,” Rakesh Srivastava, senior vice-president (sales and marketing) said.

"We thank the customers for their strong belief in Hyundai brand and assure them of our commitment towards meeting their high aspirations on world class quality products", he added.

 

CRETA is expected to compete with products like Renault's Duster and Nissan's Terrano and others and is likely to be in the sub Rs 10 lakh price range, according to industry sources.

It will be available with a choice of petrol 1.6 Dual VTVT and U2 1.4 CRDi and U2 1.6 CRDi VGT diesel engines.
