After being at the helm of the company in India for over 8 years, Shanker Annaswamy, the managing director of IBM India is moving to a new role, as a senior advisor to the company on India Enterprise. IBM has appointed Vanitha Narayanan, a company veteran, as its new MD for India.
Narayanan who has been with IBM for over 25 years, most recently as the managing partner for global business services, will be responsible for the company’s sales, marketing, services and global delivery operations in the India/South Asia (ISA) region.
The company said in a release that both Narayanan and Annaswamy will report to Jim Bramante, senior vice president, IBM Growth Markets Unit. The appointments are with immediate effect.
Prior to joining IBM India as its MD in 2004, Annaswamy served as the president and chief executive officer for GE Medical Systems, South Asia and the MD of Wipro-GE Medical Systems. He started his career with Philips Medical Systems.
India is one of the fastest growing markets for IBM globally. Besides, the company has a strong delivery presence in India with a headcount of over 100,000.
