The India Electronics & Semiconductor Association (IESA), the premier trade body representing the electronic system design and manufacturing (EMC) industry, is entrusted to prepare detailed project report (DPR) for setting up of an Electronic Manufacturing Cluster at Info-Valley in the outskirt of the city.
“IESA is engaged to prepare the DPR under a scheme of Department of Electronics and Information Technology (DeitY),” said an official.
The scheme supports setting up of both greenfield and brownfield EMCs.

About 160 acres of land at Info-Valley has been earmarked for the Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM) industry. Info-Valley is spread over 600 acres of land and is being developed jointly by the Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation of Odisha (Idco) and IT major, Infosys.
The state IT department has also engaged IESA to prepare a road map for development of the ESDM industry.
As per an estimates, the demand for electronic goods in India was $45 billion in 2008-09 and it is expected to touch $400 billion by 2020. The Union government’s National Policy on Electronics has set a target to attract investment of around $100 billion and create around 28 million jobs by 2020.
IESA will complete the assignment in 16 weeks from the date of issue of the letter of intent. As per the EMC guideline of DeitY, a special purpose vehicle will be formed between the Odisha Computer Application Centre (OCAC) and Idco with equal share holdings. The cluster in Bhubaneswar will be a greenfield project as there is hardly any hardware industries existing in the state. Among others, IESA will also help in obtaining commitments from the prospective investors on investment in the cluster and their contribution towards the project costs, as required under the EMC scheme.
