Former President APJ Abdul Kalam on Friday joined the governing board of GVK Emergency Management and Research Institute (EMRI) as chairman emeritus. EMRI, a non-profit organization having its head quarters near here,  was started in 2005 with a vision to provide integrated emergency response services  through a toll free number ‘108’ to every citizen under public private partnership (PPP) framework.
