LS defers discussion on Satyam scam

The Lok Sabha today deferred a discussion on the multi-crore Satyam scam following a request from Leader of the Opposition L K Advani.
Deputy Speaker Charanjit Singh Atwal, who was chairing the post-lunch sitting, said a new date would be decided later.
Atwal informed the House about the change in the business after Telugu Desam Party floor leader K Yerran Naidu and CPI-M member Rupchand Pal wanted to know the fate of the debate on the Satyam issue.
The Lok Sabha was originally scheduled to have a short-duration discussion on the situation arising out of the alleged mismanagement of the affairs of the Hyderabad-based Satyam Computer Services.
Several government agencies including the Serious Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO), market regulator Sebi, and the Andhra Pradesh police CB-CID are investigating the case following the disclosure of alleged fudging of accounts by the disgraced founder-chairman of the IT company B Ramalinga Raju.
AP Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy has already written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to order a CBI probe into the Rs 7,800 crore scam.
