Milk Mantra to ramp up capacity

Milk Mantra processes around 80000 litres of milk per day from its two units and it collects milk from more than 30000 farmers under its ethical milk sourcing programme

Milk Mantra, a state based dairy product start up, plans to increase its dairy processing capacity to total of 0.35 million litres per day at its two plants by 2016.

"We will invest around Rs 25 crore for enhancing the capacity of our Gop plant in Puri to 0.25 million litres per day from present level of 75000 litres per day by next January. Similarly, the processing capacity at Sambalpur will be ramped up to 0.1 million litres per day at a cost of Rs 10 crore", Srikumar Misra, founder and chief executive officer, Milk Mantra told media persons on the launching ceremony of MooShake, a dairy-based health beverage which is blended with curcumin, an extract from turmeric. In November last year, the dairy company had acquired Sambalpur-based Westernland Dairy having a processing capacity of 50000 litres per day at a cost of Rs 10 crore.

For feeding its plants, the dairy company plans to increase its collection points to 1000 from 300 presently and looking at expanding the network of farmers to 100,000.

Apart from MooShake, Milk Mantra under its brand Milky Moo, sells processed milk, probiotic dahi, lassi, butter milk and paneer.
