Tyre manufacturing company MRF had reported a net loss of Rs 38 crore during the third quarter ended December 31, 2008. It had reported a net profit of Rs 51 crore for the same period last year. Net sales increased by 17 per cent to Rs 1,351 crore from Rs 1,154.73 crore. Consumption of raw materials during the quarter ended increased to Rs 1,070 crore from Rs 733 crore, an increase of 45 per cent.
South Asian Petrochem records Rs 15-cr loss
Petrochemicals major South Asian Petrochem (SAPL) has posted a loss of Rs 15 crore for the quarter ended December 31, 2008, on account of falling raw material prices and finished goods. However, net sales for the quarter rose 27 per cent to Rs 275.77 crore. Prices of SAPL’s finished product Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET), a plastic polymer, fell from $1,250 to $770 during the period.
Sundaram Clayton posts a loss of Rs 2.84 cr
The net profit of Chennai-based Sundaram Clayton posted a loss of Rs 2.84 crore for the third quarter ended December 31, 2008. The company had posted a profit of Rs 6.01 crore in the same quarter a year ago. The company’s total income dropped by 3.89 per cent to Rs 116.77 crore as against Rs 121.32 crore.
