Nalco's April-June net profit down 28% to Rs 160-cr

Firm reported Rs 223 crore net profit a year ago

Press Trust of India New Delhi
State-owned aluminium maker Nalco today reported 28% dip in net profit for the April-June quarter at Rs 159.70 crore on lower sales.

The Bhubneswar-based firm had reported Rs 223.08 crore net profit a year ago, it said in a BSE filing.

Net sales of the company declined to Rs 1,536.54 crore from Rs 1,718.30 crore a year earlier.

Total expenses also fell to Rs 1,532 crore form Rs 1,566 crore, mainly due to less consumption of raw material.

Nalco consumed raw material worth Rs 273.5 crore in the April-June quarter compared to Rs 316.30 crore a year earlier.

However, it clocked a Rs 39 crore rise in "other income" to Rs 178.71 crore during the quarter. Nalco, however, did not give further details.
