Bangalore-based Union for ITeS professionals (UNITES), which works on labour situation in the Indian IT and ITeS industry, today launched a National Confederation of UNITES with a view to addressing various employee-related issues.
It comprises registered unions from Karnataka, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Maharashtra and Tamil Nadu.
"Our plan is to have more affiliates in cities like Chandigarh, Noida and Pune that have ITeS presence," Karthik Shekhar, general secretary of UNITES, told mediapersons here on Sunday.

UNITES is affiliated to Geneva-based UNI Global Union, which is a global union for skills and services with 20 million members in 900 unions in 140 countries. It has over 12,000 IT and ITeS professionals as its members.
It would focus on right to decent employment, wages and benefits, secure and healthy work environment among others.
