NDTV rejigs management

Prannoy Roy-promoted NDTV has decided to go in for a management shake-up. The current group chief executive officer (CEO), K V L Narayan Rao, is being elevated to executive vice-chairperson, while Vikram Chandra will be taking his position. At present, Chandra is the CEO of NDTV Convergence and NDTV Profit.
People familiar with these developments said Roy on Friday sent an email to employees regarding this.
“We have been talking about a succession plan for NDTV for a couple of years now. We believe change is good. It brings new blood, new ideas, different perspectives and paves way for growth. We believe the time for change has come,” said the mail, which Business Standard has reviewed.
Rao has been spearheading the growth of NDTV for eight years as executive director and group CEO for past five years.
Chandra has been with NDTV for 17 years with various responsibilities in editorial and management. He headed NDTV Profit from its creation, then became CEO of NDTV Networks where he was incharge of managerial and business decisions.
“As the CEO, Chandra will have overall authority and responsibility for all aspects of the company: corporate, operational and channel performance. He will become a member of the NDTV Board,” said the mail. According to NDTV sources, no key changes were announced on the editorial side.
