Nokia India workers held a general body meeting at Sriperumbudur on Friday, about 50 km from Chennai, to consider the conclusion of Thursday's tripatite meeting in which a severance package was finalised.
The meeting, which started at around 10.30 am, had over 700 workers including several women attending. Nokia officially announced suspension of work at the factory from November 1, after Microsoft decided to scrap its contract to make mobiles from this facility.
The ongoing dispute between Nokia India employees and the management related to their job in the beleagured factory came to a conclusion on Thursday night.

In a tripartite meetong held on Thursday at Sriperumbudur, the management and workers union came to a conclusion for settlement, which has to be approved by majority in a general body meeting today.
According to sources close to the development, the management has agreed to extend the same offer it had made during the previous VRS.
The company has offered Rs 1 Lakh as compensation and three month's gross salary for every working year, with a cap and double the wages for unused earned leave. On an average the workers are expected to get around Rs 7.5 lakh each, said sources.
The Union said that the meeting has come to a conclusion and it has to be authorised by the general body meeting for it to be officially announced.
The meeting held between the Nokia workers, management and the Labour department officials on Thursday lasted went almost up to 5 hours. Majority of the workers are of the view that instead of taking legal route, it is better go for settlement, following which the Union representatives have sat with the management and held talks on the compensation.
