App-based cab aggregator Ola has partnered with the Centre to enroll 100,000 ex-servicemen by 2020 as entrepreneurs on its platform.

The Bengaluru-headquartered company has partnered with the Directorate General Resettlement (DGR) under the Ministry of Defence for the initiative named Ola Sainik.

"Ola Sainik, will also, over a phased manner, make available larger benefits like training, education and insurance for the family members of ex-servicemen on the Ola app," a statement from the company said.

The first batch of 'Sainiks' are expected to join the platform next week.

On Thursday, Press Trust of India had reported that online retailer Amazon India has also tied up with DGR to launch a talent development programme called Amazon Military Talent Partnership for ex-servicemen in India. The programme will offer ex-service personnel and their spouses employment and career development opportunities at Amazon's operations in India, the report said.
