“The Hyderabad centre, which currently has a team of less than 10 engineers, will work in tandem with our Seattle facility to develop services and products around our core product – Clip Card – targeting the global markets,” Ryan M Cunnigham, vice-president (experience), OneOcean, told Business Standard.
Clip Card is an approach for locating, modeling, abstracting and sharing big data sets leveraging a cloud-computing infrastructure. The platform is backed by Amazon Web Services' global cloud infrastructure for data storage.
According to the one-year-old start-up company, about 90 per cent of the big data is ‘dark data’, as estimated by research firm IDC.
Dark data is the enormous subset of unstructured, undiscovered, untagged information residing within the big data.
Dark data severely challenges the traditional business intelligence and reporting technologies, which are struggling to tap the full potential of this new breed of data.
Clip Card is a product, which aims to solve this problem by locating the data and making it accessible whenever and wherever needed, the company said.
The beta version of Clip Card is currently being used by around 14 large corporations globally. OneOcean expects to commercially roll out the product in the fourth quarter of the current calendar or by early 2014.
