The Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Corporation (APGenco) has said the Rayalaseema thermal power plant (RTPP) stage-III had been synchronised to attain full load of 210 Mw capacity after streamlining the unit operations.

The unit would add 210 Mw (5.04 mu per day) to the grid. The raw water required for the project was supplied from Mylavaram reservoir through pipelines covering 22 km and Brahmasagar Reservoir covering 72 km. The required coal — 1.01 million tonne per annum — was supplied by Orissa-based Mahanandi Coal Fields Limited (Talcher).

The commercial operation declaration of the unit would be announced by the year end. The total estimated cost of the project was Rs 1,330.75 crore. Another 600 Mw under stage-IV would be commissioned by 2013.
