SCI to implement new EU regulation

Press Trust of India Mumbai

Shipping Corporation of India (SCI) today said it will implement the European Union's new regulation for all goods on vessels coming from non-EU countries, including India, into the EU Customs territory.

The regulation will come into effect from January. For the formal implementation of the EU Customs Advanced Manifest Rule, the state-run shipping giant would be required to set up necessary procedures and systems.

Accordingly, SCI would be charging an entry summary declaration (ENS) fee of $25 per export, a company release said here.

The regulation, to be applied to all inbound shipment into the EU-member states, aims to ensure security risk assessment is performed prior to loading origin base-port.

Consequently, all carriers must electronically submit the required data elements to the EU Customs office at the vessel's first EU calling base-port at least 24-hour prior to mother vessel berthing (ETA) at origin base-port, the release added.
