Shriram EPC has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with China-based North West Electric Power Design Institute to undertake large thermal power projects in India.
The company has formed a new joint venture to execute thermal power projects on an EPC (engineering, procurement, construction) basis in the country. Shriram EPC will be the lead partner in the consortium.
Company managing director and chief executive officer T Shivaraman said the JV would help them bid for projects, which were previously out of reach.
“Our strengths in the material handling business and our joint venture with Hamon for the cooling system and air pollution control systems will strengthen this new partnership,” he added.
The MoU is for a period of five years and can be extended depending on the circumstances.
Chennai-based Shriram EPS is a provider of integrated design, EPC and project management services for renewable energy projects among others. The company is also into production of wind turbine generators.
