Tata to develop 28.8 MW solar powered plant

Tata Power today said that it is developing 28.8 megawatt solar power plant in the Satara district in Maharashtra. This will be one of its largest photovoltaic technology based solar plants.
The company has already signed an agreement to sell all the power generated to its own distribution arm, for twenty-five years. This will help the distribution company meets its renewable purchase obligations, mandated by the regulator.

“Tata Power is committed to generate 20-25% of its total generation capacity from clean energy sources,” said Anil Sardana, Managing Director, Tata Power.
The power will be transmissed by state government's Maharashtra State Electricity Transmission imited (MSETCL)’s network. Tata Power said that it has already placed orders for engineering, procurement and construction of the power plant. The power plant is expected to be commissioned by December 2013.
