Wipro appoints former HUL VC to its board

Wipro announced on Monday that Mahendra Kumar Sharma, the former vice chairman of Hindustan Unilever, is joining its board of directors. Including Sharma nine of the 12 members on the board of Wipro are independent directors.

The appointment will be affective from July 1.

Sharma is on the board of various companies like ICICI Lombard General Insurance Co, Birla Corporation, Fulford. At Thomas Cook (India) he is both an independent director and non-executive chairman.
