125 swine flu cases reported in UP

The number of deaths from the disease so far is six with 13 districts of the state reporting swine flu

The total number of people tested positive for swine flu rose to 125 in Uttar Pradesh, with the state capital reporting 88 such cases so far, a senior health official said on Tuesday.

"Total 125 cases have been reported positive for H1N1 in the state. The number of deaths from the disease so far is six with 13 districts of the state reporting swine flu," a senior health department official said.

With 10 new patients testing positive for H1N1 in the state capital since on Monday, the total number of cases have rose to 88, maximum in the state, S N S Yadav, chief medical officer (CMO), Lucknow, said.
 

Altogether, three persons including Swatantra Saksena, working in Merchant Navy; a retired Army officer and the wife of a retired jawan succumbed to the virus in the state capital.

Besides these three, one death each was witnessed in Kanpur, Saharanur and Bareilly districts.

With a sharp rise in swine flu cases in the state, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has decided to provide free and prompt treatment to such patients in Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, King George's Medical University and other medical colleges of the state.

Yadav has also directed that availability of medicines should be ensured in government hospitals.
