Andhra Pradesh was ahead of Gujarat in attracting private investments in the port sector during the first six months of the current fiscal, said K Pradeep Chandra, state commissioner for Industrial Promotion, industry and commerce department.
Chandra delivered the keynote address at the two-day East Coast Maritime Business Summit here on Thursday.
The share of maritime trade for states without coastal port facilities was only 4 per cent of their GSDP, whereas this was 15 per cent for states, which have coastal port facilities, he said.

Stating that currently only 25 per cent cargo moved by containers in the country, he said this was 75 per cent in developed nations.
