A local Congress leader and five others have been booked for allegedly raping a widow here, police said today.
The FIR was registered yesterday against Congress leader Yadram Chandel and five others Ompal, Raghu, Rizwan, Salman and an unidentified man at a city police station here, police said.
According to the widow's complaint, Chandel and his five accomplices gangraped her on October 6, they said.
The 39-year-old victim, a resident of Mohalla Shambha in Bijnor, alleged that she had approached Chandel, former President of city Congress Committee to help her in getting a government accommodation, which he had promised to her.
On October 6, he took her to a secluded place near Ghanuwala village on Mandawar Road in a car in which 5 other persons were also sitting and raped her, she said.
The matter is being probed, police said.
