DATA STORY: 8,954 cases added; active cases drop below 100,000-mark

India has so far administered 1,241,086,850 vaccine doses. That is 3647.19 per cent of its total caseload, and 88.72 per cent of its population

India on Wednesday reported a net reduction of 1,520 in active coronavirus cases to take its count to 99,023. India’s share of global active coronavirus cases now stands at 0.49 per cent (one in 204). The country is twenty-seventh among the most affected countries by active cases. On Tuesday, it added 8,954 cases to take its total caseload to 34,596,776 from 34,587,822 — an increase of 0.1%. And, with 267 new fatalities, its Covid-19 death toll reached 469,247, or 1.36 per cent of total confirmed infections.
